I say your note on Members project. We offer a "green" alternative to homelessness. Look forward to hearing back from you.

The Pods are not specifically designed for only the US market, but are for the greater good of the entire globe. Disasters and homelessness are not selective as to locale or along political lines. The biggest impact will be made worldwide, therefore, going international as you say, is the best and wisest use of the Pods.

Hi Javasipper. Are you planning to go international? The world has many more natural disasters than the usa.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Jenny. Your project is great too..!! Perhaps we'll meet up in the Sichuan Province where we both can make a huge impact on people's lives.

The Pod plans may become free or available at a very low minimal cost, all depending on the interest expressed, and the willingness of sponsors such as NGOs, etc. to get onboard with stockpiling flat packs of the Pods ready for a quick deployment to disaster areas.

Why not make the plans available for everyone at no cost, or no more than $10. Many of those who will need this housing will have little or no money... just a thought

The hope is to have the Pod plans available for anyone to purchase and construct their own Pod. Once the plans are available a special website will be established to facilitate order taking and to offer assistance and advice in assembling and customizing a Pod.

The Pods are being promoted to various agencies, including FEMA and the State of Louisiana. I would recommend you lobby any State or Local or Federal agency you can think of including FEMA, Habitat for Humanity, The American Red Cross, etc, to consider using these Pods for interim, transitional and long term housing solutions for disaster relief and the homeless. Please also talk with all of your friends and ask them to cast their vote online for this project. The more votes and interest this project receives, the greater the likelihood it will be funded by American Express and others. Thank you for your interest.

The Pods are modular in design, starting at 64 square feet (8'x8'), and can be increased in increments, ie: 96 sf (8'x12'), 144 sf (12'x12'), 192 sf (12'x16'), and 256 sf (16'x16'), etc... The basic Pod will sleep 2 comfortably , and each added module increment will allow space for 1 additional person. It is expected that a basic Pod module will cost about $1,500, as a Flat Pack "Kit of Parts" ready for assembly.

How large are the Pods? How many people can they sleep? How much do they cost?

These Pods are to be 100% Off-Grid utilizing BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) systems in the walls and roof of the structure. A solar hot water system can also be integrated. For cold climates the solar hot water system serves dually as a radiant heating system simply by turning a bypass valve on for the circulation system. A 500 watt PV system will provide ample power for low voltage (12 volt) LED lighting and ancillary needs.
