I viewed this film project recently and it is is one of the most moving and important documentaries I have ever seen. Viewing the project literally brought me to tears, but not tears of sadness. This project is a gift to humanity.

I have personally witnessed the reconciliation work being done in Rwanda and have also seen it impact dramatically the lives of people in the west that need to know that forgiveness and healing is possible in their lives - just as it is possible in the lives of the Rwandan people. Laura Waters Hinson has a remarkable project here and one that I think needs to be taken around colleges in the US and around the world to impact people with this life-changing message. I think she is a remarkable filmmaker with a bright future - one that Amex wants to get behind through this project! Tracy Stone, Rwanda Partners

This is a great project with an important purpose. I have seen the movie Hotel Rwanda, detailing the horrendous genocide happening in Rwanda not too long ago. The movie was deeply moving and I cannot imagine what the survivors have gone through. It is amazing that they can forgive those who had slaughtered their families and friends. This documentary has a powerful and important message that the whole world needs to hear and see. Good luck! -Together we can make a difference! Pens for Peace.Hope for Harmony.Sichuan earthquake

Forgiveness is something that we can all do, it costs us nothing but our pride, and can go a long way toward ending suffering and violence throughout the world. This young filmmaker is to be commended for tapping into the most basic of human emotions and sharing these moving stories. How would the next generation shape this world if forgiveness could become the rule, not the exception? How would children in N. Ireland, Israel/Palestine and elsewhere in the Middle East, as well as Africa view their neighbors if this message of forgiveness could be spread to them. Ms Waters-Hinson is a very worthy candidate for this project!!

My project idea is for an international tour of my film, As We Forgive, which will accomplish the goal of spreading the message of reconciliation to people worldwide. My inspiration for this tour has been seeing the incredible response that audiences in the U.S. have been having to the documentary. Viewers are often awed and humbled by witnessing the stories of Rwandans reconciling after genocide, and many have told me that their lives were personally changed after seeing the film. If Rwandans can forgive after genocide, how much more should we be able to forgive people in our own lives for much smaller offenses? In short, I am inspired to take this film to college campuses and to other countries in need of reconciliation because I believe it has the potential to change people's hearts by offering a healing solution in the midst of tragedies where full justice isn't possible.

This sounds like an interesting, unique project with long-term potential. However, is the "My Inspiration" question supposed to be the inspiration FOR the film, or why the film's director thinks the film itself is inspiring? That's a little unclear. -- Edited by CM394556 at 08/23/2008 7:11 PM PDT

This film challenges our unwillingness to forgive, especially when the injustices we experience often pale in comparison to what these Rwandans have experienced. If they are finding a way forward, why can't we? This documentary needs to seen, discussed and applied individually and globally. Please help make this possible.

Imagine a world where every nation, ethnic group and family are reconciled. This project will encourage people to consider forgiving in situations that once seemed hopeless. People are openly responding regardless of their religious, political or cultural views. This is a project that can affect real change in a world that is broken and racked with conflict.

You think this film is just about Rwanda. You think this film is about genocide. You think this film is about a distant country. WRONG! This film is not about Rwanda: it's about YOU. It's not just about a genocide: it's about when someone kills a part of YOU by doing something as unforgivable as participating in something as destructive as genocide. And it's not about a distant country: it's about a country as close as YOURSELF. See Rwanda. See you. Rwanda is changing. Hopefully you will too. You will WANT CHANGE in your life after you see this film.

I have seen this film many times, and the music and dialogue haunt me. The filmmaker's ability to craft the complex life stories of Rosaria and Chantale into a narrative with such subtlety, intimacy and precision is a testament to her gifts as a storyteller, such that I often feel I am in the room with her having a conversation about these women.
