Reece's Rainbow would be a good organization to work with for the orphan Down syndrome children. They have a good track record and truly love all children. They are connected to a community who would embrace and adopt these children.

Project: Save an Orphan with Down syndrome

I have a biological son with Down Syndrome and knowing that during my pregnancy was difficult, but I would not change one thing! I feel so lucky to have been blessed with him. If I was in a situation to adopt a child in one of these orphanages I would in a heartbeat, reading and seeing it is so painful. My son has a warm bed to sleep in every night and lots of love. I pray for these children and many others that have to live such a painful and unloved life every day. I will not give up that someday I will be fortunate enough to bring another child with Down Syndrome into my home.

I have a grandson with downs syndrome and pray that this project wins by a huge margin. What a blessing it will be to these precious children to grow up in a home where they are wanted and loved. Thank you and God Bless the work of your hands. I pray for your success. -- Edited by CM461845 at 09/22/2008 7:56 PM PDT

You are exactly right. I certainly had no idea at all about the critical need for children with DS to be adopted until I came across Reece's Rainbow on the internet. Then 'my eyes were opened' to the dismal future that many of these children face. Now one of those little guys is napping sweetly on my couch and we are pursuing the adoption of another. Reece's Rainbow does an amazing job of raising awareness of these children's plight. This grant money would be wonderful because then more people whose eyes have been opened and whose hearts have been touched would actually be able to put their love into action and bring these precious little ones into their homes.

I had no idea there was such an urgent need to adopt these special children. I think many of these children will be adopted now simply becuase of the awarness this project is bringing to many of us. I encourage those who will adopt to only use these grants (assuming this project wins) if you really need them to allow this project to reach as far as possible. God bless you all!

Not only does Reece's Rainbow save many children, but it has the opportunity to change the world...at least in the perception of people with special needs. Fifty years ago in the US infants were placed in institutions when diagnosed with special needs. Parent's were told they would be vegetables, would never talk or walk, that they would die soon. Thankfully, that perception has changed in the US...to some degree. In other countries people with special needs are still perceived this way. There are no services, or education, or help for children or adults with special needs. Reece's Rainbow has the opportunity to show other countries that these children can grow into productive adults...they are people who may need a little more help...they are beautiful and lovable. Please let Reece's Rainbow have the opportunity to help save lives, and change the perception of people with special needs.

This is such a fabulous Organization. I have been reading about all that they are doing to help children with Down Syndrome for several months. As an adoptive parent, I know how costly international adoption is. Reece's Rainbow can help to save children from a horrible life and death in an institution. These children who have been forgotten are given families and a home and love, not to mention medical care and therapy that allows them to thrive. Amazing!!!!
