It's always interesting to me who each new president selects as the Poet Laureate of their term. Sometimes they are already well known and sometimes they are surprising voices.

Who do you think will be the next Poet Laureate in this country?

What a good idea! Considering that a great many nations grant the role of Poet Laureate to a native poet, there is so much good that can be done!

Poetry as an art form is also something that could be given greater focus in the classroom, and at home.

If you have children, do you include poetry in bedtime readings and family reading?

Amen. Poetry is the language that incorporates the emotions of a physical experience on a spiritual level that transcends all but the commonality of our experience. It ties us, it binds us, it frees us. And in so doing it helps explain one of the dualities of our existence.

Hello BrainBank,

I am a big fan of poetry. What amazes me, is that every event in history has had a poem written about it. I agree poetry can tell what others are thinking. And also bring to light, the hopes and fears of all around us.

Poetry can open up many discussions also. I applaud poets and their ability to have everyone else see through their words.

Why Not Poetry

Hello all,

Why not poetry as a form of art which is of little awareness around the world. Poetry delivered by poets, whom beleive they have a story to tell, this is one form to release what's on ones mind. I have taken my poetry book and set it up as a donation for various organizatios... acceptiing no money at all. All moneys are donated to various organizations. This is a project that helps my heart... so join me by learning more about me and my poetry and how I want to further assist those in need.
